Theory and Practice

Probably all organized combative systems address the subject of theory in their teaching curriculum. Sadly, for many systems, the dynamics of the training material are relegated to simple, often antiquated philosophies or esoteric words and phrases that leave the students wondering why some things are done but not others.

Chongdo has a well-defined and highly structured theory behind its operation, which breaks our internal dynamics down into Doctrine, Strategy, Tactic, and Technique. Rather than provide students a vague breakdown structure, though, we impress upon them that each level of this framework provides useful and valuable tools.
