We group our many techniques into related courses called modules. Modules are designed to work together, so that they can be combined as the situation requires. They are usually taught in any order, although a few introductory aspects are taught to beginning students immediately. Clicking on the name of any training area below will bring you more detail on the modules it contains.
Empty-Hand Fighting
The student begins with the basics of empty-hand fighting, including how to stand and move, how to fall and roll, and how to strike, kick, and block. Other modules focus on escapes from common and uncommon holds, control techniques, ground-fighting, grappling, and fighting in other disadvantaged situations. We take the students further, with techniques in vehicles, in water, and against dogs, before reviewing how more than one opponent can change the dynamics of any situation.
Weapons Training
The student learns to attack, counterattack, and disarm different categories of weapons, including common weapons such as knives, sticks, poles, axes, and hammers; specialized weapons such as swords, flexible weapons, and spears; and modern weapons such as archery, handguns, and long guns. The emphasis is on learning how weapons operate, so that any handy object can be turned into a useful weapon without prior practice.
Advanced Training
Advanced studies contain the most diverse range of studies, from the physical training of agility, balance, posture, running, jumping and so on, to rope and climbing techniques, and survival training in basing, sheltering, firecraft, navigation, and more. Rounding out these studies are environmental studies, which cover how the local environment (forest, desert, cold weather, and so on) can change all the rules for better and worse.
Training the Spirit
The student learns to become aware of his or her immediate world. These modules include sense enhancement (to train the basic senses to perceive faster), situational awareness, threat analysis, and how to anticipate what happens to individuals before, during, and even weeks after violence occurs.
Training the Mind
Here, we teach sciences to our students: meteorology, astronomy, physics, physiology, and psychology, mind strengthening tools, including enhanced learning methodology and visualization, and basic emergency medical practices.
Elective Studies
Chongdos elective studies prepare our students to use this training in real world situations useful to work, school, or day-to-day living. These include security training, leadership, team building, project management, conflict resolution, contingency planning, and multiple opponent control.
