Chongdo’s Senior Instructors

At any given time, Chongdo is led by four senior instructors who are responsible for the curriculum and operations of the System. Each instructor has equal authority, regardless of tenure. Presently, our four leading senior instructors are:

	Bill Gottis joined the system in 1993, and became a senior instructor in 1995. He is a certified project management professional (PMP), and has provided management training around the globe. Bill has a significant background in psychology, and is also an experienced world traveller. He has led workshops on knife fighting, grappling, and more. Bill is married, and has a daughter. 	Frank Kristoff joined the system in 1988, and became a senior instructor in 1989. He has employment experience with a major airline, a leading defense contractor, and serves as a leading security designer for a major technology organization headquartered in the Midwest. He has written magazine articles in various publications. Frank has a degree in psychology. Frank is married, and has a son. He can be emailed at frank@chongdosys.com.
	Jim Michalik joined the system in 1983, and began teaching formally in late 1986. He has employment experience with a leading defense contractor, and presently works as a leading security designer for a major technology organization headquartered in the Midwest. He has been featured in security industry magazine articles for his work. Jim is perhaps better recognized under the name Watchful by the good folks at BladeForums; at any given moment he’s probably posting in the Practical Tactical discussion group. 	Stephen C. Young joined the system in 1986, and became a senior instructor in 1989. Mr. Young has a degreed background in social work, and has provided assessment and counseling expertise to a variety of institutions. He has employment experience with multiple hospitals, which allowed him to revamp our coursework in dealing with violent, resisting attackers.
